My first weekend, the one I arrived on, was fun. Everyone hung out at the dorm and we all got to know each often, a great way to start off the trip.
Monday through Thursday of the first week, I start digging trenches and moving dirt for the foundation of the house, The man we were working with will be living in the house with his mother. He was very nice and appreciative for the entire 2 works. After work, I would just go back to the dorm and hang out with the other volunteers. After the first week, I was quite tired from all the digging and was looking forward to the weekend.
We all organized to go to Quepos, Manuel Antonio for the weekend. We visited the National Park, swam in the ocean and took advantage of the sunshine. I also took surfing lessons, which was fun.
Back to work Monday, I continued to move dirt but things were moving along. Finally, by Wednesday we poured cement with the trenches and laying block on Thursday. My last day of work, Thursday was a lot of fun. We joked around with the workers and we were sad when we had to say goodbye.
The overall experience was great. I ate amazing food made by our Tica mom, I met really nice people from different places and got to know them, immerse myself in a new culture, which was very rewarding. The dorm was a fun place to live because everyone was living together.
Thank you uVolunteer, Nella and Andres for everything.
